mine was pretty banged up when it arrived, the reflector had some damage. leaked water but still nice Please call 304-592-2600.

The lamp arrived on time, however the refleter was wrapped and dented, therefore the light is not focused properly. If the reflecter were not defective the review would be a 5+! ----------------------- Did you call back into our warehouse? The number is 3045922600.

this seems to be a good product for the price. it burns well with soft consistant light that does not burn out your night vision like lithium storage LED. The key is daily maintenance; Clean calcium deposits and the end of every shift regardless of the duration, it may be essential to perform refill and cleaning and maintenance in total darkness for extended periods of time during emergency operations. runs hot due to the thermal mass of the brass body. remember to remove the reflector before vinegar soak. each time after refilling both tanks, checking water drip rate @ about one drop every three or four seconds, lightly coat all brass threads and rubber gasket face lightly with petroleum jelly before use. about :10 to :15 from first water drop until gas generates fast enough to make good flame.

Excellent heavy brass body, seems durable enough, did notice some carbide buildup on gas port and residue in small areas, probably QA testing. It’s sad that’s it’s made in India but no one makes them in USA anymore. Mine is a display peice until later, but I’ve got a pound of carbide waiting to go. Back in the 80s I used a plastic carbide lamp caving a few times, but it wasn’t anything like this one. I recommend one for anyone wanting a carbide lamp or just a functional cool peice of history...

This lamp is delightful. It has a beautiful finish, and it works exactly as it should. It gives a surprisingly bright light in the view direction due to the polished reflector. It will not be a replacement for my LED headlamp due to the extra weight (and the fact that it is burning with an open flame), but it is a super-cool, no-fail, backup light source that I'm enjoying using. I will note that the water valve works adequately to meter the flame size, but it does not fully shut off. So, when I am done with the lamp, I empty the water from the lamp. Well done Minex!

Unimpressed. Not sure if it had been "tested" before shipping, or had been returned... but it was definitely used when I got it. Flame is "weak" which leads me to believe the lamp has a clog in the gas tube, or it's faulty. When lit, barely gives off more light than a normal candle. Lucky I'm not giving it 1 or 2 stars...

The carbide lamp itself is 5 star. Old design carbide hat lamp, but these are brand new reproductions. Best of both worlds. BUT BUT BUT...it arrived with a big dent in reflector. Sad. I called for exchange but out of stock, unknown time till more can be stocked. The outer box was undamaged. The product box was destroyed so it was shipped damaged from warehouse. That's why i am unhappy. Product 5 stars, retail seller 1 star for lack of quality control.
